In May this year it will be 20 years since the first Karvin Golden Retriever puppies were born. 
Since those days the breed has changed a lot in Finland. 
In 1980 most golden retrievers where golden coloured, some of them being even too dark for the breed standard.
Our first litter was by an Irish bred dog called Whitevater Columbanus and out of Hiekkakankaan Arina. 
There were nine puppies who were all golden coloured.  
The breed was rare in those days and people who wanted a golden puppy had to wait for at least a year to get one!

At Turku International Show Ch Kerrien Raleigh was 2nd best dog, and got the reserve CACIB ,under Mrs Sue Pounds-Longhurst.

Inassicas Sea Pirate debuted at his first show in Helsinki March 12th under Eeva Rautala. "Mason" was best puppy in show. Enclosed is a photo. Best bitch puppy was Joystep's Lady Lorelei (Inassicas Sunlight ex. Karvin Lorelei Lee) who was also shown for the first time!

The adult dogs were judged by Mrs Marianne Holm-Hansen. Lislone Garbank Laplander got his third C.C. and got his Finnish Champion title. Ch Kerrien Raleigh was 2nd best dog. Karvin had BIS breeders group and Ch Almerak Pipers Dream had BIS progeny group.

The week after, at the International show in Tampere, Golden Retrievers were judged by Mrs Ruth Weightman. Again Karvin breeders group was best group in breed. Ch Kerrien Raleigh was Best of Breed and got the CACIB later on he was 2nd in the group.  "Kurre's" son, Gleaming Big Love, who was at his second show ever, was 2nd in the best dog class and got the C.C.& reserve CACIB! Best bitch was another Kurre puppy - named Lilldale's Cheesecake. Second in best bitch class that day was Karvin Quaint Miracle (Ch Kerrien Paperback Writer ex. Ch Karvin Jambalaya)

A few weeks later, on April 9th, Karvin Quaint Miracle (owned by Anne Virtanen) was best bitch & BOS and won her 1st C.C. under Mr Markku Santamäki. Karvin breeders group was Best In Show!!

We had some very good news from Maja Samokovlija in Yugoslavia. Her Karvin Welldone (Ch Almerak Pipers Dream ex. Karvin Julie Rogers) had become an International Champion.

"Dona" is the nineth Karvin bred International Champion.

The others are Karvin Ultimatum, Karvin Corleone, Karvin Touch of Brandy, Karvin Basic Instinct, Karvin Karelian Song, Karvin Lili Marleen, Karvin Wellfavoured, and Karvin Ursulina.

Gill's Garfield who is currently staying with Helene Strömbom in Sweden was BIS-1 at Fjällnora Open Show 6th of May.

On the 7th of May at the All breed Championship in Seinäjoki, Karvin breeders group was Best In Show. The dogs in the group were Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe, K. Up O Hoppa, K. Current Issue and K. Latest Hit. Judge Hans Lehtinen. Karvin Ziider Zelina was BOB and BIG-5 at the same weekend in Kuopio.

Karvin Celcius (Ch Almerak Pipers Dream-Ch Festival's Five Five) won his 2nd CC and was BOS in Helsinki 13th of May. Judge Gun Holmström.

In the end of May in Tuusula, Karvin Celcius was BOS and  Karvin Lorelei Lee got her 3rd CC and was 2nd best bitch. 3rd best bitch  was Karvin Uh La La La (Gill's Garfield ex Karvin Greta Garbo)  and 4th best bitch was Karvin Quantona (Ch Lovehayne Darter ex Karvin Call Me Chantiily). Karvin breeders group was BOB. Judge Johan Juslin.

Karvin kennel had a nice day in Helsinki 28th of May. Karvin Status Quo won his 2nd CC and was 4th best dog. Ch Kerrien Raleigh was 2nd best dog. Karvin Tootsie (Gunhills Summer Days ex Karvin Casablanca) got her first CC and was 2nd best bitch. Karvin Vida Nocturno (Gunhills Dalbury ex Karvin Fröken Fanny) was 4th best bitch. Karvin breeders group was again BOB. Judge was Per Iversen from Norway.

At the same day in Tampere, Karvin Alive N'Kicking (Ch Almerak Pipers Dream ex Ch Karvin Lady Las Vegas) qualified at the working test.

Karvin Celcius was BOS for the 3rd time this year , now in Toijala under Ms Kirsi Nieminen. The girls did also very well in the best bitch class, 2nd Ch Karvin Dance de Luxe, 3rd Karvin Lorelei Lee and 4th  Karvin Quaint Miracle she also got her 2nd CC!! Karvin breeders group was BOB.

Karvin Champagne (Ch Almerak Pipers Dream ex Ch Festival's Five Five) had an outstanding day on the 3rd of June in Sauvo, she got her 1st CC and was BOB, BIG and finally BIS!! Karvin Alive N'Kicking was 2nd best dog and also got his 1st CC. On top of all Karvin breeders group was Best In Show!! Judge Mr Markku Santamäki.

Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was BOB in Mouhijärvi 10th of June, judge Mrs Tiina Illukka.

The seccond weekend in June was very successful. At the all breed championship show in Mänttä 17.6 Karvin Status Quo got his 3rd CC and was 2nd best dog. Ch Kerrien Raleigh was 3rd best dog. Karvin Quaint Miracle was 4th best bitch. Our Swedish import Inassicas Sea Pirate was BOB puppy. Karvin breeders group was BOB. Judge Hannele Jokisilta.

The next day in Karjaa all breed championship, Karvin Celcius was BOB and 3rd in the Gundog Group! Ch Kerrien Raleigh was 5th best dog. Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was BOS. Karvin Quaint Miracle was 4th best bitch. Our puppy Inassicas Sea Pirate was BOB puppy. Karvin breeders group was also BOB. Judge Mr Theo Leenen.

Karvin Alive N'Kicking got his 2nd CC and was 3rd best dog at the all breed championship show in Somero 8th of July. Judge Mr Knut-Sigurd Wilberg. Karvin Ballad O'Blanca (Gunhills Summer Days ex. Karvin Paloma Oblanca) won the Openclass and was 5th best bitch.

Karvin Vida Nocturna was 3rd best bitch and Karvin Champagne 4th best bitch in Helsinki July 16th, under judge Filip Johnson. Karvin breeders group was BOB.

Karvin Alive N'kicking was was 4th best dog and Karvin Champagne was 4th best bitch in Rusko July 22nd. Judge Mr Sverre Sand.

In Vesilahti July 30th, judge Eeva Rautala & Kirsti Wuorimaa (puppies),Pauclare Phylanderer our new baby, started his show career by winning BOB puppy and finally Best In Show.Ch Karvin Testarossa was 3rd best dog. Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was 3rd best bitch.Our breeders group was BOB and later on Best In Show!!

Respons Zodiak-Ten qualified at the working test 10th of August! FIN Ch Karvin Testarossa was 3rd best dog in Alajärvi 6th of August, under Mr Eivind Majerum from Norway.

Karvin Ballad O'Blanca  was 2nd best bitch in Muurame under Kirsi Nieminen August 12th and on the next day in Joensuu she won her first CC and was BOS, under Agnes Ganami-Kertes from Israel. Pauclare Phylanderer was BOB puppy and Karvin Quantona was 3rd best bitch in Hyvinkää on the same weekend under Elisabeth Rhodin from Sweden.

Karvin Celcius was BOB at the all breed championship show in Vihti, September 10th  under Mrs Gun Holmström.

Last weekend in September Karvin Runaway Romeo (Gunhills Dalbury ex. Ch Festival's Five Five) qualified at the working test. Ch Karvin Lili Marleen (Ch Almerak Pipers Dream ex. Karvin Paloma Oblanca) thrilled us by winning Best In Show and also Best In Show  veteran in Salo, under Mrs Tuula Jokela.

Anne Virtanens new Karvin baby Karvin Hip Hoorey (Gleaming Big Love ex. Karvin Fina Finlandia) was BOB and BIG-2 at the all breed Puppy Show in Hollola October 22nd.

Ch Karvin Basic Instinct was 2.nd best dog in Poland at the European Winner Show, 28th of October, judge Mr Luis Pinto Teixeira.
Golden Ring's annual championship show was on the same day in Helsinki.Our junior Inassicas Sea Pirate was 5th best dog and he was also Best Junior In Show. Gleaming Big Love also won his class, and was 4th best dog. "Jack's" puppies (Finngreen Ferry Berry & Finngreen Feminic Frida) did very well in the puppy class, they were BIS-1 & BIS-2 puppy, mother of the puppies is Karvin Rio Ramanda. Judges was Mrs Anne Nerell & Paula Rekiranta.

The first weekend in November was very successful for our kennel. At Hollola championship Show Ch Kerrien Paperback Writer was 2nd best dog. Gleaming Big Love was 3rd best dog and got his seccond CC!! Karvin Quaint Miracle got her 3rd CC and became Finnish Champion!! Ch Kerrien Paperback Writer's progenygroup was Best In Show, and our breedersgroup was BIS-3, what a fantastic day!! Judges Mr & Mrs Hennessy.

On the next day in Espoo allbreed puppyshow, Karvin Hip Hoorey was BOS puppy, judge Tarja Hovila.

Karvin Hip Hoorey was BOB & BIG-3 puppy at the all breed puppyshow in Kaarina 13th of November. 

19th of November in Vekarajärvi, Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was BOB, Ch Karvin Quaint Miracle was 3rd best bitch and Karvin Hip Hoorey was BOS puppy. Anne Virtanen is the happy owner of all this girls.

At the Finnish Kennelclubs International show 3rd of December, Inassicas Sea Pirate won the juniorclass and got the title Junior Winner 2000, he was later on 4th best dog and got his first CC!! Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was 2nd in the working class and 4th best bitch. Judge Mr Rainer Vuorinen.

At Golden Rings Open Show in Kouvola 16th of December, Ch Karvin Dance De Luxe was 3rd best bitch and Karvin Hip Hoorey was BIS-2 puppy.
